2024/25 Term 1 - Curves - from April 1st

With an endless variety of designs available, piecing curves is a favourite technique of all three of your tutors. In this term we look at three very different ways to tackle curves, including improv, accurate piecing with templates and hand stitched.

Curves can seem intimidating to newcomers but with the right advice and a little practice you will find they are both effective and satisfying to sew. Your tutors each have a wealth of tips to help you on your curve journey, so don’t worry you are in safe hands!

For our fourth month we are joined by curve piecing maestro Daisy Aschehoug who has designed a stunning bonus block that will give you a real curve piecing workout and put all that tuition to good use! And then find out all about Daisy, her background, inspirations and current work, in our live Zoom session.

2024/25 Term 2 - Stars - from August 1st

An eternally popular patchwork block, most quilters have surely tried a star block at some stage. We’ve taken a wild and loose approach to this term’s theme and come up with three fabulous projects that take sewing stars to a whole new level.

We go beyond quilts to make the current must have garment, a quilted coat, we journey beyond the stars with some out of this world freehand foundation piecing and we slow things down to learn a new hand stitching technique.

For our fourth month we are delighted to welcome Lorena Uriarte all the way from Sydney Australia. Lorena has designed a gorgeous star block which will be offered as both a hand and a machine pieced project. We can’t wait to find out more about Lorena and explore her amazing quilts in our live Zoom session.

2024/25 Term 3 - Text - from Dec 1st

We want to encourage our students to express themselves in our final term for year two. We will be exploring all the different ways you can include text in your quilts and other sewn projects.

This term has an even broader range of crafts on offer as we try out different ways to print on fabric or add embroidery to your project. Each class will include suggestions and instructions to personalise the text included and provide ways for you to have your say!

For our fourth month we will be welcoming Canadian quilter Krista Hennebury. Krista has designed a text block with an unusual Art Deco font that’s easy and fun to piece, as well as encouraging us all to ‘create!’. We can’t wait to find out more about Krista’s life and work in our live Zoom session.
