Create your own little friend in this whimisical class with Jo

Jo has always loved making little dolls and recently she started to depict her Dream Birds in doll form using a simple freehand design reminiscent of folk art.

As well as sharing a pattern Jo will be encouraging you to create your own personal versions of these tiny friends. Of course any child would love these little dolls but they are also perfect for carrying around yourselves and giving comfort should it be needed.

Available to buy as a single class from mid January 2026.  Class goes live on 1 February.

Brids, cats and scary dolls...

Jo will be showing you how to make a basic doll shape using a mixture of machine and hand sewing with simple embroidery embellishment.

We will then explore different way to transform your doll from a bird to a cat to a lady to a rabbit! You are going to have so much fun bringing each little doll to life and falling in love with them during the process.

We will also look at creating themed dolls such as scary dolls for Halloween or something more festive for Christmas!

Week 1

After a look at suitable fabrics and useful notions we will start to make our basic bird doll components such as wings, legs and body. We will add our hand stitched embellishment.

Week 2

We will put our first doll together and add any final features.

Week 3

Jo will show you how to transform the basic pattern to create another doll from a range of options. We will look at how to personalise your design and how to make clothing for your dolls.

Week 4

We will look at themed dolls with ideas for Halloween and Christmas.
