Bottles, checkerboards and coral beads

Leave your templates and patterns behind and grab that rotary cutter!

Join Jo as we piece wonky bottles, crosses and log cabins before moving on to an undulating checkerboard panel and long strips of 'coral beads'. Plus Jo will share two different techniques to create improv triangles.

Jo will show you how to put all these elements together to make three different blocks. These can be used for mini quilts, cushions or bags. Or make three more each of the corner and wall blocks and you'll have finished your own version of Jo's stunning new design, Twelve Green Bottles!

Week 1

After a discussion about design options, fabric and colour choices we will begin by creating our wonky bottles and checkerboards.

Week 2

We will learn the first of our improv triangle techniques and finish our first 'wall' block.

We'll begin the corner block with wonky crosses, stripes and log cabins.

Week 3

Jo will be showing you how to use her Freehand Foundation Piecing technique to create the rows of spikes. We will finish the corner block with coral beads and put the whole thing together.

Week 4

We will use our techniques to create the centre block and put the top together.

Finally we'll take a look at ideas for quilting and discuss other uses for the single blocks.
