Introducing our three friends for this year...
This year we decided to team up with three of our favourite quilting friends around the world to create three fabulous blocks which we will be working through with you. Our Terms cover a four month period with a class each from Karen, Lynne and Jo. For the fourth month we will be inviting a guest to design a bonus block based on that term's theme.
Each of our three guests for this Academy year are personal real life friends of ours and designers that we both and admire and respect.
We are keen to share more from these fantastic people with our students so in the fourth month of each term we will be hosting a live zoom session with that term's friend so that we can get to know them better. These sessions will be recorded and we will be inviting questions from our students. Both the live session and the bonus block will only be available to Term and Annual Pass holders. We have been having fun with the blocks already and have each made a gorgeous tote bag with them! We will be offering plenty of inspiration for projects you can make with the blocks when the time comes. We are so excited to share our friends with you all!

Lorena Uriarte
Lorena, a contemporary artisan, values the practical and timeless allure of quilts. Using techniques like needle turn appliqué, fussy cutting, and hand piecing, she crafts pieces that bring the warmth and joy of handmade items to everyday spaces. Her quilts often transform into coats due to space constraints.
Sitting at the traditional edge of modern aesthetics, Lorena's work spans from minimalistic designs to traditional small block samplers. She blends commercially printed and solid fabrics, creating engaging quilts that reveal captivating secondary patterns through clever use of prints and color.
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Lorena now calls Sydney, Australia, home.
