Dream Bird Coin Purse with Jo Avery
Jo loves creating fantasy versions of birds using appliqué and embroidery embellishment. A few years back she shared an exclusive Dream Bird design for her taster session and this year she has designed a cute wee coin purse using her Dream Birds as inspiration. This adorable little purse has a fully lined zipper pocket and your bird can be decorated with either tail or head feather or add both! Embellishment with running, fly and chain stitch plus colonial knots adds lovely texture to these pouches. When finished they can be used for coins, lipstick, knitting markers, binding clips or just for tiny treasures. They also make wonderful gifts! This is mainly stitched on the sewing machine with some hand stitched details.
Sewing Kit and Tools Pouch with Karen Lewis
Karen has devised this perfect travel set from a single piece of fabric. Both the Sewing Kit and the Tools Pouch can be made from an old vintage piece, a favourite fabric, an orphan block or her especially designed fabric panel. The Sewing Kit is perfect for holding a few thread spools and scissors as well as needles and pins on the felted fold. The Tools Pouch is perfectly sized to fit your favourite on the go needs. Karen will take you through the steps to construct the folded sewing kit and show you a variety of closures, as well as showing you how to make the tools zipper pouch. You will be all ready for your out of the house sewing needs or use equally well cosied up at home.
Baby Dresden Stars with Lynne Goldsworthy
In this class Lynne will be taking you step by step through the process of cutting the various pieces we will need to make the Dresden leaves and the foundation paper pieces for the stars. Before you get started on making the dresdens and stars, you may choose to quilt the background and backing pieces as Lynne has done. She will then take you through making the 18 leaf Dresden plates, appliquéing them to the background, FPPing the star templates, assembling the stars and then appliquéing them to the background. She will then show you how to finish the cushion, and you may choose to add hand quilting lines along the way.
