A chance to try out Jo's Freehand Curve Landscape technique

Jo made her first version of this design in 2017 and has been teaching this as a real life workshop ever since. This is the first time it's been available as a pre-recorded online class.

We will be exploring freehand curve piecing and building up three dimensional layers to achieve a pictorial effect of trees in a landscape. These can be fresh and modern or more subdued depending on your tastes. You won't believe how quickly these come together and how much fun this technique is!

Available to buy as a single class from mid May 2024.  Class goes live on 1 June.

Create your very own fabric landscape

You will learn how to cut and piece a range of freehand curves and how to plan vertical and horizontal layering to achieve a stunning effect.

Jo will be encouraging you to takes things further by adding more layers and more detail to some of the trees.

You can use this class to make a single cushion which will give you a good grounding in the technique. Or take things further and make a tall thin quilted wall hanging. And if you are really enjoying yourself you can start on a giant quilt like Jo's Poplars!

Week 1

We’ll talk about planning fabrics for our landscapes before piecing our first hills and valleys with some gentle curves to begin with.

Week 2

We'll add our first trees and try out some tighter curves before cutting into our landscape for our tree trunks.

Week 3

We'll start a new landscape and add an extra aspect with a tree on a hill. We'll develop the foreground and background further and layer more trees.

Week 4

Jo will show you how to add branches to your trees and how to tackle a larger project such as a multi block quilt. She will finish by sharing quilting and other project ideas.
