Come and learn how master foundation paper piecing three different ways!

The bonus of having an Academy with three tutors if we all bring different skills and priorities to the party.  Karen and Jo love slow stitching, taking their time, enjoying the craft. Lynne is always looking to get things done faster, looking for shortcuts, looking for quilting cheats!  So why not join us this month and expand your FPP skill set.

Needle Turn Appliqué

with Jo Avery

Beginning with the simplest turned edge appliqué Jo will take you through the basics, the different stitches you can use, the right needles and thread and the many ways to prepare pattern pieces ahead of stitching.

We will be looking in depth at achieving perfect curves, perfect points and how to 'swoop' with style!

Freezer Paper FPP

with Lynne Goldsworthy

Lynne will be showing you how to foundation paper piece using freezer paper.  Unlike the traditional method of FPP where you sew through the papers and have to painstakingly tear them away afterwards, in this method you do not sew through the paper and can peel it away in one fell swoop at the end and even re-use your template!

Reverse Appliqué

with Karen Lewis

Karen will be looking at the technique of reverse appliqué where the background fabric is layered on top and a hole cut away, rather than placed underneath as for traditional appliqué.

Karen will give you a step by step guide into this method and talk about her favourite notions to use to get great results. She may just show you how you can easily machine sew with this method for those that refuse to come over to her and Jo's slow side!
