In this quilt design, Lynne takes lots of different sized dresden flowers and lots of different sizes of circles and  layers them all together ot come up with a whole new array of dresden plate blocks.  

Re-imagining the Dresden Plate

We have seen so many variietes of quilts using Dresden Plate blocks and in this quilt we totally re-imagine the classic block to make these modern lollipop flowers with multi-layered centres, bias tape stalks and raw edge appliquéd leaves.  

Week 1

During week one we will make lots and lots of dresden flowers with various sizes of templates to make the various sizes of flowers we see across the quilt top.     

Week 2

During week two we will start to place those dresdens onto the background, layering some of them up to make multiple layered flowers. 

Week 3

During week 3 we will be making the half square triangle sections on the quilt top which create the central octagon shape on the quilt top. 

Week 4

In the final week we will be adding the centre circles to the squares, as well as the stalks and leaves and putting the whole quilt top together.
