Let's make a lone star jacket!
In this class, we will be starting off by learning the basics of making a lone star quilt. The quilt we are making is a simple bold design. Of course you could also start with a quilt you've aready made and make a jacket from that. We'll then talk through two different ways of making a jacket - one with a pattern and one with a pattern you will create yourself. We'll cut out the jacket pieces, sew them together and, voila, your very own quilted jacket. Lynne has also included a bonus lone star cushion for those of you who don't have the time or inclination to make a whole quilt and jacket!
Week 1
During week one we will be cutting the strips and sewing them into strip sets which we then cut into 45° strips to make the segments of each of the lone star diamonds. Coloring sheets will help you plan your design and colour palette.

Week 2
In week two we will assemble the eight diamonds, aligning and pinning the seams so that they meet at the diamond points. As usual, there will be detailed instructions and lots of tips from Lynne along the way.

Week 3
Now we will take the next steps to trim the star sections and add the background wedges, then sew the whole thing into a lone star top. Lynne will be talking about quilting decisions bearing in mind that the quilt is going to be made into a jacket.

Week 4
In the final week we will be turning the quilt into a jacket. Surprisingly this is the quickest and easiest part of the process. Lynne keeps the jacket very simple but of course you could add pockets, collars, cuffs, pockets or any other detail you'd like to add!

Week 5 - a bonus project!
Lynne decided to add a quick and simple lone star cushion for anyone who liked the idea of tackling a lone star but didn't have the time or inclination to make a whole quilt and jacket!
